Celebrate Pride Month:
CLOSET 2 PRIDE
6 p.m. June 29

Presented by PACE

PACE invites you to join together to close out PRIDE month with a fun evening of camaraderie, dinner, and a movie at RFC!  Tickets will include a delicious buffet dinner in the RFC’s event space and a screening of the updated, final cut of “Closet2Pride: Memoirs of Shreveport” which premiered at the RFC earlier this year. Prizes will be given away during the dinner.

Closet2Pride, by local filmmakers Robert Darrow and David Hylan, provides a historical background to the struggles and successes of the LGBTQ+ community in Shreveport, featuring heartfelt interviews, archival footage, and personal stories. The film examines the difficulties of coming out and living openly and authentically in a conservative and religious environment, and the discrimination, violence, and social stigma this community faces, while celebrating the ways in which the LGBTQ+ community has united to fight for their rights.  It is a powerful reminder of the ongoing struggle for acceptance and equality. The film celebrates the strength and courage of the LGBTQ+ community and highlights the challenges they still face. Documentary, 2023, 1hr. 18 min, NR.

Tickets are available to purchase online, in person, and over the phone. Tickets must be purchased before 3 p.m. on the day of the event. Theater seats will be reserved. Dinner seats will not be reserved. To book theater seats together, either purchase your party’s tickets in one transaction or please tell the members of your party the seats you purchased. Dinner will be served at 6:00 in RFC’s events space on the second floor — doors open at 5:45. The movie will follow in Theater 1, RFC’s 124-seat capacity theater.
