Robinson Film Center will host its annual Gala, The Robbys, on June 15th. The event, which is the nonprofit’s major annual fundraiser, will take place at 617 Texas Street, with doors opening at 6:30pm for check in. The festivities will continue through 11pm. The theme for this year’s gala, which will be hosted by local news anchor Biskie Duncan, is ‘Hitchcock’.
“The power of film is magical. There is a genre that speaks to everyone. Films fill us with all sorts of feelings, including hope, which is deeply needed today. RFC is vital in educating our community about how movie magic can enrich our lives,” said Anna Priestley, the 2024 Robbys Chair. “Keeping the spotlight on RFC is what The Robbys is all about - raising funds to continue our outreach programs that strengthen our local community and support our film industry.”
This year’s event revolves around the fashion and glamour of characters in Alfred Hitchcock films, which are synonymous with striking leading ladies and debonair leading men. The dress code for the Robbys is described as “cocktail or costume”. The night will feature stunning themed décor from famous Hitchcock films, along with a karaoke room, a VIP area, a screening room, a prize pull, DJs, and a live performance by the band Identity Crisis. There will be open bars and food throughout the center.
“As this year’s chair, it has been a privilege to do my part to keep the magic of RFC on the big screen,” said Priestley. “My hope is that attendees are transported to the world of Alfred Hitchcock and are reminded of the inspiration and enchantment of cinema.”
